Pigeon Rescue: Meet Mr Snow Flake (Paris)
Another baby pigeon (chick) rescued this morning, from the mouth of a crow that was repeatedly stabbing the chick with its large black beak, towards the back of its fragile little white wing to try and puncture the skin, as so to access the kidney’s, which would have killed the baby pigeon; as it was lying on the pavement floor helpless to escape the grip that this large crow had, while pressed to the ground with a force not to be reckoned with.
I was walking along the pavement on the way to the Public University Library to access their computers as a guest – this is my third visit – and noticed this baby pigeon being attacked by the crow (I normally walk by the river because of the view but my heart told me to take the back streets this morning); as I approached, the crow flew away and the chick, still in shock from the attack, wobbled over to one side trying to escape. I noticed blood under its wing and a little more seeping from the corner of the left eye, so I trapped it very gently and picked it up, found a rag to wrap it in and took it with me to the library. I fed it and kept it warm. I can only hope that I can rehabilitate it back to the sky once it has matured.
I’m against keeping birds in cages to entertain and keep company us human beings; I don’t know who started this trend but I think for a bird, it’s like being in prison; however, wild-life bird rescue is only for a short term.
The last bird I rescued (by the police station, during the confinement period) someone fed it rat poison when I turned my back on it (only to go to the toilet for a few minutes) and killed it; but that was when ‘The Wicked Witch’ and my husband’s lawyer, (her second) were running loose – and I haven’t rescued another pigeon since. Now I hope things will be a little different, so let’s see how we go with this one.
