Re: Access to External Users – Justification of interest
Dear Ms Christine CLERICI,
Thank You, for taking the time to read this communication on your undoubtedly busy schedule.
My name is Anne Lucy Gelicrisio, and I have often accessed the computer and internet services available at the ‘Universitè Paris, Citè’ (the university) – Moulins Campus – which was previously accessible to the public (with membership to external users an option); however today, I was sent away by reception staff upon entry, who politely informed me (in English) that two years ago the rules had changed.
I accepted their direction without an argument and left quietly, after being denied their assistance to translate the criteria of entry that I assumed was made readily available on ‘the university’ website, open on a computer screen in front of them. I then proceeded to the nearest council office located just around the corner, at 14 rue Rene Goscinny, and asked for their assistance to translate such a criteria (of entry to ‘External Users’…), and was kindly assisted by the Head of Communications, Marine, who offered the information both in French in English, in printed format (see attached – 3 Pages). It stipulates, among other things, that ‘External Users’ of the said university library have to ‘justify their interest’ for use in writing, hence this formal communication.
I aim to become a future Psychology Student at a university level, as a mature aged applicant after sitting the standard entry exam that I am currently studying for, accessing the psychology manuals available on the fourth floor, in English. With that degree, I will have the option, to enter the French Police Force, as a practicing psychologist to combat the police suicide epidemic, an issue that I understand will also require a reform… Fighting for the happiness of people who have fought for mine, is my overall aim, and it’s achievable with the right resources made available, that you have.
I trust you understand my position and I hope the information that I have provided here, is adequate for your serious consideration. Should you require any further information, please don’t hesitate to contact me via mail, in hard copy, at the address provided above.
Yours Sincerely,
Anne L Gelicrisio
